The put foot foundation, gifting under-privileged children “hope, pride and dignity” through brand new, quality school shoes

The Put Foot Foundation is a volunteer based, proudly South African, Public Beneficiary Organisation (PBO) and Not-for-Profit Organisation (NPO) born out of the need to tackle the daily plight and indignity of children with no shoes.

They operate across South Africa, with particular focus on the less privileged and rural areas often overlooked by charities.

Founded by former Springbok Bob Skinstad, Put Foot Rally creator Daryn Hillhouse and winning digital communications agency owner Mike Sharman, the initiative has three main objectives:

  • Providing thousands of school children who are so poor that their families cannot afford to buy them shoes
  • Supporting efforts to protect endangered animals in South Africa such as the Rhino, Elephant, Lion, Leopard
  • Making funds available to, and collaborating, with other section 18 PBOs working for the greater good of South Africa

Shoes are symbolic of pride and give confidence to young learners knowing that they can walk to school in comfort, as opposed to barefoot. Shoes are also a vital protection barrier between our children’s tiny soles and Africa’s rough and unforgiving terrain.

Their vision is to gift millions of children in South Africa, that have never owned a pair of shoes, with their first ever pair, and restore HOPE, PRIDE and DIGNITY in each of our country’s neediest learners.
