Monareng helps Leachville youth with sought-after digital skills

Marcia Monareng is committed to helping young people without jobs find employment by helping them develop their digital skills.

By educating Leachville youth digital skills, such as locating, assessing, utilising, sharing, and producing content on digital devices like computers and cellphones, Monareng uses her expertise to empower the local youth.

In addition to providing free online classes to youth in her hometown, she is also a part of a feeding scheme project.

She lives in Leachville, near Brakpan, and every Thursday she feeds people with a group of friends in an effort to meet their basic requirements and create a community of support.

Owing to her broad participation in social entrepreneurship and community service, she highlights the value of collaboration in promoting South Africa’s progress towards social development, empowerment, and unity.

When Monareng looks back on her career, she emphasises how she helped her hometown start significant neighbourhood changes.

The first community library was founded thanks in large part to her efforts, providing citizens with convenient access to educational resources.

She also established Leachville, near Brakpan, the town’s first communal garden, an area that is used by hundreds of people, in an effort to promote sustainability and healthy living among the locals.

Through her work, she continues to inspire and empower others, establishing a lasting legacy of progress and optimism.
