Children Will Have Access to a Secure and Stimulating Environment at a New ECD Centre in Gugulethu

In Cape Town, transforming early childhood development a glimmer of sustainability and optimism has appeared in the centre of the township of Gugulethu.

With 76 children under six receiving care, the Masonwabe Educare Centre and Aftercare (Masonwabe) has experienced a significant metamorphosis.

This centre now offers a safe and secure learning environment, overcoming significant challenges and demonstrating the power of partnership in early childhood development (ECD) infrastructure thanks to the combined efforts of Hyve Group, Violence Prevention through Urban Upgrading (VPUU), Ladles of Love, and Breadline Africa.

Beyond the development, Hyve Group is improving the neighbourhood and surroundings by providing the centre with a full year of dietary support in collaboration with Ladles of Love.

With this backing, Masonwabe’s standing in the community is cemented as it gets closer to registering with the government.

The new Masonwabe represents sustainability and community influence with a long-lasting effect. It embraces the principles of UN Sustainable Development Goal 13, which include lowering carbon emissions, supporting the transition to renewable energy, encouraging a circular economy, and taking action on climate change.

Making long-lasting improvements in early childhood development is made possible by collaborating with reputable organisations like Breadline Africa and the Masonwabe team.
