For the past ten years, our organisation has worked alongside schools, community groups, churches, and local residents to create practical solutions that empower people to grow their own food, develop new skills, and build more resilient communities.

A major highlight of 2026 has been the continued growth of our school food garden initiative. This year alone, Do4SA successfully completed and handed over three new school gardens:
These gardens are designed to support school nutrition programmes while also providing learners with hands-on environmental and agricultural education. By teaching children where food comes from and how it is grown, we are helping to cultivate a new generation of environmentally conscious citizens.
As part of our 10-year celebration and in recognition of World Environmental Day, Do4SA launched the 100 Gardens Challenge — an ambitious initiative encouraging households, schools, churches, and community organisations to establish or expand food gardens throughout Nelson Mandela Bay.
