You can’t pass the busy Grayston Drive in Alexandra township and not be greeted by the smell of coffee and warm smiles of Harry Mohlala and Phineas Mamadi.
Mohlala and Mamadi are two hard-working entrepreneurs who, come rain or shine, are busy selling coffee to motorists who are either going to the office or going home from a grilling shift.

Mohlala is the owner and founder of Coffee on Grayston, an on-the-go coffee business that is taking social media by storm, prompting media houses to want to profile him on their shows.
In an article with IOL, Mohlala can be seen in a photo pouring hot beverage from a backpack dispenser with a name of a giant coffee brand, Jacobs, as a form of sponsorship.
His customers are recognising his hustle and a video of the entrepreneur went viral on social media.
“What inspired me to start is that I did not normally sleep during the day and on the occasions that I did, I had a recurring dream. This kept happening so I decided to chase that dream rather than sleep on it,” he told the publication.
“When I started I did not know if it would work or not, but I stayed true to myself and did not give up. My clients supported me and stood by me. That kept me going,” said Mohlala.
He noted that his business model has had a positive response, and as a result, he has encouraged many young people in the community.
Mohlala stated that he believes in empowering others and has done so by hiring Mamadi.
The entrepreneur considers himself as a risk taker, according to the publication. “I did not know how to bake but now I serve freshly baked scones daily. The experience has been awesome, it brought out something in me I never thought I had, it taught me patience and resilience.”
He remarked that in the future, all he wants is a consistent business and wants to own a few coffee shops to assist people who struggle with unemployment.
“The ultimate objective is to develop a hustling centre that assists individuals with their own businesses and employment placements.”
Editor’s note: Entrepreneur Harry Mohlala started his on-the-go coffee shop which has become a success and attracted a lot of media and social media attention, something I think should happen often, as it promotes the culture of entrepreneurship especially among young people in Africa. He has been able to hire Phineas Mamadi to assist him especially when it is very busy on the forever bustling Grayston Drive.
