Do4SA tackles food insecurity, donates seedlings to EC based families

Do4SA is a community based non-profit that operates in Gqeberha and is a catalyst for the promotion of humanitarian efforts in South Africa. The organization announced that it will continue to join forces with communities and organizations who are working hard to ensure that people in the Eastern Cape are able to feed their own families through its Seed and Feed initiative. To the tackle nutrition and food security challenges in Gqeberha, that is why we decided to donate the seedlings which people would use to plant vegetables, ensuring that families are food secure.

Do4sa embarked on a project of individual self-sustainable vegetable gardens to tackle the nutrition and food security challenges in Gqeberha, whereby we provide the training, training manual, seedlings and tools with which people would use to plant vegetables, ensuring that families are food secure. Our service to beneficiaries of this project includes follow up visits to monitor the progress, assess the needs identified by the communities and assist where we can. The project is made possible by donations Do4SA receives from its altruistic donors and support.

Through donor support we were able to distribute hundreds of seedlings to rural and impoverished communities, empowering them to cultivate their own fresh, nutritious produce,” he said. The project is centered around training and empowering candidates from marginalized backgrounds to cultivate community gardens. The seed and feed initiative helps communities become self-sufficient but it needs support from generous people for it to make an impact in the lives of more people.

Do4SA has also developed a guide that can be used to understand how one can start a successful vegetable garden. The Imifuno Guide To Gardening manual is a comprehensive guide for communities to start their own self-sustainable vegetable gardens. Donations towards this project can be made through the Do4SA App which is available on Google Play and the App store.

Editor’s note: With your support – a small donation to the organisation’s food security programme, hundreds of families won’t go to bed on a hungry stomach. Your donation will enable Do4SA to distribute hundreds of seedlings to rural and impoverished communities in the Eastern Cape.
